Moraga Road - Campolindo Drive Traffic Safety Study

The Moraga Road — Campolindo Drive Traffic Safety Study is set to improve pedestrian and motorist access to Moraga Road to Campolindo High School and improve Traffic Safety in Campolindo Drive. In December 2023, Town Council awarded Parametrix, Inc. (Berkeley, CA) the Professional Services Agreement (Staff Report - 12-13-2023) for Traffic Engineering Consultant Services for the Moraga Road — Campolindo Drive Traffic Safety Study.

The Moraga Road — Campolindo Drive Traffic Safety Study is currently underway, covering the stretch from Buckingham Drive to Sky Hy Drive on Moraga Rd and from Moraga Road to Paseo Del Rio on Campolindo Drive (Please refer to map). Parametrix conducted a study in this area to gather data for the evaluation of potential conflicts, considerations, or issues that could influence the design alternatives or the associated costs. Moraga Rd-Campolindo Drive Traffic Study will improve pedestrian and motorist access to Campolindo High.

Existing Traffic Safety Concerns:

  • The operation of the flashing beacon is not coordinated with adjacent traffic signals on Woodford Drive
  • Ingress and egress issue in Corte Santa Clara during school drop-off and pick-up hours
  • Sight obstruction when pedestrians across Campolindo Dr
  • Future traffic impacts from Palos Colorados subdivision development

Campolindo Drive Crosswalk Improvements (Calle La Mesa & Paseo Del Rio)

  • A virtual Campolindo HOA Board Meeting was held on the evening of April 9, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM to recommend traffic implementation and get input on alternativesPlease find the Traffic Study Presentation for more information.
  • Thanks to everyone who participates in the traffic red curb marking recommendations. The Phase 1 letter of intent was sent on April 11, 2024. The Town received no objections to the letter of intent
  • Phase 2 of the project will suggest new ADA curb ramps, high-visibility crosswalks, and curb extension striping with plastic bollards.  Upon funding approval from the Town Council, the proposed implementations will be added to the 2023 and 2024 Pavement Rehabilitation Projects this fall.
